With a massive revenue of over $6b per year, Dillard’s is one of the best-known department store chains in the US and has stores at some 282 different locations.
Dillard’s stocks a wide variety of designer goods including a good selection of perfumes and Cologne from brands such as:

If you’ve purchased a new fragrance from Dillard’s but aren’t bowled over by the smell or if it’s simply an unwanted gift, you may be wondering how long you get to make a return.

What is Dillard’s Perfume Return Policy? The Short Answer
You can return perfume or Cologne to Dillard’s up to 30 days after purchase for a full refund or exchange whether you purchased it in-store or online subject to the below exceptions:
- You cannot return clearance fragrances that have been marked down by 65% or if the fragrance is on sale and an additional discount is applied
- Defective fragrances or those shipped by mistake can be returned outside this window
- Personalized fragrances cannot be returned
You can return fragrances to Dillard’s for all manner of reasons such as:
- If it’s an unwanted gift
- Duplicate orders
- Mistaken orders
- If you don’t like the smell
- If the fragrance is defective (e.g. it’s gone bad, the bottle is broken or has degraded)
What About Opened Fragrances? Will Dillard’s Accept them?
Dillard’s return policy on opened items is fairly strict in that they only accept items that are in new and unused condition.
You should return any fragrance with the box and any product tags, failing which you may be refused a refund or exchange.
Only if the item turns out to be defective will you likely be able to secure a refund if you’ve used the item or are missing boxes etc…
What is Dillard’s No Receipt Policy for Fragrances?
You will generally need a receipt, proof of purchase label or invoice to return perfume or Cologne to Dillard’s.
If you don’t have proof they may refuse your return.
If you’re struggling to find proof of purchase, we’d recommend trawling through your emails as you will have been sent an invoice if you purchased online.
Failing that, take along a bank or credit card statement showing the transaction.
Returned gifts will be refunded in store credit via a gift card to use in-store or online.
How to Return Perfume to Dillard’s
You have two options when returning items to Dillard’s:
- Return the item in-store
- Use the mail-in returns process
You can return items to any of Dillard’s 282 stores, whether you purchased the perfume/Cologne in-store or online.
To return fragrances using the mail-in process, you must ship it to:

You can either use Dillard’s return label (this cost $9.99) or you can arrange shipping yourself (Dillard’s asks you to use a tracked shipping method).
If you use Dillard’s own label, then you must drop the product off at any of USPS’ drop-off locations.
You should then receive a refund within 7-10 days.
What to Do Outside of the 30-day Return Window
If the 30-day window has already elapsed, we’d first suggest speaking to a member of staff, especially if it’s only just expired or the fragrance was a gift.
They may be able to extend the window or at least off you a store credit.
If the item is defective, remember that Dillard’s will usually allow you to return it even outside the 30-day window.
