Dillard’s is one of the USA’s best love department stores, stocking a wide variety of fashion items and apparel including a superb range of shoes for every occasion.

If you’ve recently purchased shoes from dillards.com or any of their 282 stores, but they don’t fit or perhaps you’ve changed your mind about them, then you’ll want to know the ins and outs of their return policy.

Like many department stores, Dillars imposes a limited window in which to return items purchased from them.

To bring you up to speed, we’ve covered what the return window is, how to make a return, whether you can return worn shoes, and much, much more.

Let’s dive in…

What is Dillard’s Shoe Return Policy: The Short Answer

In short, you can return shoes to Dillard’s, whether purchased in-store or online, within 30 calendar days from the date of purchase for a full refund or exchange. There are some exceptions to this which we’ll cover below.

Exceptions to Dillard’s Policy:

  • The window is extended indefinitely if your shoes are defective, shipped in error, or damaged
  • You cannot return clearance shoes that have been marked down 65% or more in price or shoes on sale with an additional discount
  • You cannot return personalized shoes

Can You Return Worn Shoes to Dillard’s?

Dillard’s official policy is that shoes must be in like-new and unworn condition with their original merchandise tags attached.

Dillard’s policy also stipulates that shoes must be returned in the box they came in.

However, the above will not apply if the shoes are defective in some way, for example, if the heel snaps off them after only a few outings.

If your shoes do develop a fault, then still reach out to Dillard’s and they should replace them.

For both online or in-store orders, Dillard’s states that they do require a receipt, invoice, or the original Dillard’s proof of purchase label.

For gifts, Dillard’s will refund the item in-store credits to spend in-store or with a merchandise gift card.

If you can’t find your receipt, remember Dillard’s will usually email the invoice to you upon purchase if purchased online.

Another option is to find proof of payment on your credit card or bank statement and present that to them as proof of purchase.

What to Do Outside the 30-Day Return Window

If the 30-day return window has already expired when you come to return shoes to Dillards, here’s a few things you can do:

  • A third option is to simply sell your shoes on a website such as VintedFarFetch or Wearesott.

Final Thoughts

Dillard’s offers a fairly limited 30-day return window on shoes in most instances, albeit this doesn’t apply to defective items.

This is well beaten by stores such as Costco and Nordstrom which let you return shoes anytime.

Moreover, Dillard’s charges $9.99 for return delivery and doesn’t refund your original shipping costs like many stores do.

However, they do offer a good range of shoes and there is no restocking fee to worry about.
