But if you’re a loyal customer of Staples but have seen a product they’re selling cheaper elsewhere, then you might be wondering whether they will price match that product for you.

We suggest securing price matches wherever possible as they can help you save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars each year.

But what exactly is Staples’ price match policy and will they price match some of their biggest competitors including Newegg, Walmart, BestBuy, Microcenter, and Amazon?

Yes, Staples will price match all of these stores provided the product in question is identical with the same model number, components, and US Warranty. The product must also be in stock at these stores. You should note that Staples’ price match policy excludes Amazon third-party sellers.

Staples Price Match Policy Explained

Staples will promise to price match any new identical product. To secure your price match, simply take proof of the product being sold elsewhere to the counter when you pay and they will match it.

This proof might include:

• An internet screenshot or live fiew of the competitor’s website
• A quote provided by the the competitor
• A magazine or cut out from a newspaper
• A photograph of the product taken at the competitor’s store

However, we suggest using an internet screenshot or live view showing the item in stock if possible.

You should note that Staples also provides a 14-day price match guarantee for products you’ve seen cheaper elsewhere within 14 days of purchasing the product from Staples.

If you buy something from Staples and then happen to see it cheaper elsewhere, within 14 days you can return the Staples store and they will refund you the difference.

For example, if you purchased a laptop for $750 but then see it for $700 elsewhere, Staples will refund you $50.

Does Staples Price Match Every Item?

Staples will price match pretty much everything bar the few products we have listed below.

However, the product must be the same model (same serial number etc..) with the same components. The product in question must also be in stock at the vendor you’re looking to price match.

Stores that Staples Will Price Match?

Staples will price match most stores including the following (this is not an exhaustive list):

• Microcenter
• Newegg
• Amazon

You should note that Staples does not price match Amazon third-party sellers so you will need to check that the item is being sold by Amazon and not one of the many sellers on there.

Does Staples Price Match eBay?

No, Staples doesn’t price match eBay as eBay sells through third-party sellers who are excluded under Staples’ policy.

Will Staples Price Match Delivery Charges?

If the product being purchased at Staples’ competitor includes shipping for free then Staples will price match whatever the price is and will not include shipping in that calculation.

This suggests that you still may have to pay shipping at Staples even if the other store isn’t charging you for it.

If the other store is charging a shipping fee then Staples will deduct an appropriate shipping charge before price matching the product.

Staples’ Price Match Exclusions

There are a number of exclusions to Staples’ price match policy including:

• Special promotions such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday or clearance sales
• Third party sales
• Gift cards
• Phone cards
• Postage
• Taxes

• Membership customers

For example, if you buy a printer for $100 and have a $30 voucher the net price will be $70. If the competitor’s price is $65, you would get a $5 refund or they will price match the $65.

You should further note that you are entitled to only one price match per customer per item but this is fairly standard and means you can still price match all of your other products subject to the above exceptions.

Can I Get a Price Match Using Staples Online Store or App?

According to Staples terms and conditions for their price match guarantee, price match is only available when purchasing items in a Staples store.

You need to speak to an adviser at the customer service desk to secure your price match.

Tips for Securing Your Staples’ Price Match

Here are some handy tips for making sure you get your Staples price match:

• Make sure you bring proof – we suggest a live view of the competitor’s website
• Make sure the model and description is exactly the same. Some products look the same but have a different serial number
• Spend 15 minutes or so looking around to see if you can find an even better price than the one you’ve already seen elsewhere
• Remember to return to Staples within 14 days if you see the price of a product you’ve purchased from Staples cheaper elsewhere. If you’re just beyond that timeframe, speak to a manager as they may have some flexibility.

Final Thoughts

Staples offer a fairly generous price match guarantee policy which isn’t restricted to certain stores like Best Buy’s Price Match policy for example.

Unfortunately, Staples doesn’t price match Amazon or eBay third-party sellers but this is fairly standard across most stores and is consistent with their competitors’ policies such as Micro Center’s policy on price matching Amazon.
