  • Earrings

If you’ve purchased jewelry from Costco but what to make a return; perhaps it doesn’t fit, you’re not happy with the quality or it’s defective, then it’s worth getting up to speed with their returns policy to make sure you don’t miss out on a refund or exchange.

To help you there, we’ve analyzed how long you’ll get to make a return, how to return, how long it will take to receive a refund, and much more…

What is Costco’s Jewelry Return Policy? The Short Answer

Jewelry sold at Costco is generally covered by their 100% satisfaction guarantee policy which allows you to return it to them at any time for a full refund or exchange.

This means you can return jewelry items to them for all manner of reasons such as:

  • If the item doesn’t fit
  • If you’re not happy with the aesthetics or performance
  • If it’s a duplicate order
  • Mistaken orders
  • If you’ve seen the same item cheaper elsewhere
  • If it’s an unwanted gift

Almost any reason is acceptable.

You can also return jewelry after it’s been worn.

However, Costco does stipulate that for jewelry items with a diamond of 1.00 carat or larger the customer must present all original paperwork when making a return.

This is usually the IGI and/or GIA certificates.

Costco will then examine the jewelry to make sure it’s authentic and confirm this to you within 48 hours before issuing you a refund/exchange.

You should note that smartwatches fall outside this policy and the returns window is reduced to 90 days from receipt.

How to Return Jewelry to Costco

The easiest and fastest way to return jewelry to Costco is to take it to any of Costco’s stores. You can find your local store using the warehouse locator.

They also provide an online returns method but this is expressly excluded for jewelry items.

Instead, for jewelry items, Costco asks that you contact them directly to arrange pickup. You can do this by going to Costco.com and selecting contacting us on the left of the screen.

You will need the following information available when making a return online:

  • Your name
  • Order confirmation number
  • Phone number
  • The reason for your return
  • Whether or not the credit card used for the order is still active for the refund

Costco will then arrange a pickup with UPS and your jewelry will be delivered to a Costco gemologist for them to check that your return is authentic.
