For most people that would provide a fairly substantial boost in their earnings. For others, it may even replace their full-time annual salary.

If you have your sights set on making an extra $2500 a month, this post should have you covered.

We’ve researched all of these “money makers” extensively and can assure you that all of them work if you commit the time and effort to achieve your goal.

Making $2500 a month is not going to be achieved overnight but you’d be surprised how quickly it can become reality if you employ a little enterprise and commit yourself to the task at hand.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at 9 work from home jobs/side hustles that can deliver that target monthly figure of $2500.

Set Up Your Own Website

One of the best business opportunities available at this time is to set up a blog or website.

I set this blog up in 2019 and was making $2500 within around 6 months.

Yes, it took some initial commitment but that was mostly just a few hours in the evening after finishing work.

By the time I had written 30 blog posts, I was making well over $1000 a month.

Whilst I can’t guarantee you will see the same results, you should be able to get to these figures within a year.

It still shocks me today that a website I set up in less than a year, whilst watching TV, could replace the salary I earned in my day job.

That’s the power of the internet!

How to Succeed at Blogging/Website Creation?

The key is to choose a niche where people are searching for answers to their queries.

Making money from a website comes down to getting eyes on your content and that’s much easier to achieve if there’s a lot of interest in the topic you’re writing about.

There are two separate trains of thought on how to set up a successful blog.

Some people prefer to set up an ultra niched down, laser-targeted blog where you focus your content on a very specific topic such as “clothes for larger women”.

This does have some benefits as Google likes to show websites to people from experts and it’s much easier to be an expert on a very narrow topic than a wider one.

However, my current feelings on this are that it’s better to write in a more general niche as you have a lot more topics to write about.

This in turn presents more opportunities to gain traffic and that’s where the money lies in this game.

Here are some examples of wide niches I know do well:

• Home improvement
• DIY
• Food (not just recipes but food/cooking information)
• Fashion
• Tech
• Auto

I would avoid personal finance and anything health/wellness/exercise related as these are ultra-competitive and require a lot of expertise to do well in.

How Do Websites Make Money?

One of the first questions I am often asked when I tell people I am a blogger is how do I get paid for content I churn out.

The main ways you can monetize a blog include:

• Display ads: These are the (rather annoying) ads that pop up when you’re reading a website. A website owner places ads on their site and is usually paid for the amount of views their pages get. For example, I am paid around $30 per 1000 page views. This can easily add up as your site grows. You only need around 3000 views a day to get to that $2500pm target you’re looking for;
  
• Affiliates: This is where you are paid a commission for promoting other companies or people’s product. Essentially, you place a link on your website to the product/service you’re promoting and if someone clicks that link and purchaes it, then you receive a lovely commission. Commissions are generally based on a percentage of the sale price but can also be another fixed amount also. This is a great way to earn as you don’t have to create the product yourself and the company you’re affiliated with deals with delivery and returns etc…
  
• Sell Your Own Product: A lot of bloggers and content creators make their own products to sell on their website. For example, if you’ve got a photography website, you could make an e-book on “How to Shoot in Low Light” or “How to Shoot Portrait”. Other product examples are video courses, podcasts and physical products like branded t-shirts, mugs, coasters or print on demand products like diaries or budget planners;
  
• Sponsored Posts: These are where companies pay you to post about their brand on your website. You might review or provide a summary of their product. This is a very easy way to monetize your blog as I have found that brands will often write the content for you. I have done sponsored posts in the past earning around $200 for one article, which is fairly modest compared to what some bloggers earn with sponsored content.

Can a Blog Make $2500 a Month?

Thie answer is an emphatic yes!

In fact, $2500 a month is a fairly modest amount in the grand scheme of things.

Proofreaders are employed by all manner of publishers to check their content before it’s made available to the public.

You might source work through bloggers, magazine publishers, newspapers, essayists, and many other publishers.

As a proofreader, you’ll be charged with looking for spelling, grammar, styling, and other errors.

Proofreaders often charge by the word and sometimes by the hour.

How Much Do Proofreaders Make?

According to Magnum Proofreading Services, proofreaders charge an average of $30-$35 per hour or $11.81 per 1000 words.

Clearly, the amount you can make in a month will depend on how much work you can generate but according to Salary.com expect to earn a median salary of $54,290pa.

This equates to $4,357.50 per month so well above the target of $2500 we’re dealing with in this article.

One of the best ways to pick up any new skill and get a proofreading job is to take a course from an industry expert.

According to Salary Expert, expect to earn around $34,122 per year or around $2800 per month as a VA.

This is clearly above the $2500 per month target we’re aiming for in this article.

I often use freelance writers to write for this blog and usually pay around $50-$100 per 1000 words depending on the level of expertise the article demands.

As a freelance writer, you could be writing for bloggers, magazine publishers, newspapers, and all manner of other content creators.

How to Get Freelance Writing Gigs?

There are various ways you can get freelance writing gigs such as:

• Cold emailing: This is where you tout your services over email. For example, you may visit a blog like this one and offer your services by reaching out to the site owner to offer your rates and a breakdown of your skills;
• Freelance Job Websites: Places like Fivver and UpWork are great places to secure clients but these websites do take a cut of your income. For example, Fivver charges 20% of your fee as an admin cost;
• Job Boards: I love the job board on the ProBlogger forum where you can secure work from website and blog owners who see it as a very high quality source for acquiring writers.

Can I Make $2500 a Month as a Freelance Writer?

As above, I pay around $50 – $100 per 1000 words usually but I know of specialist freelance writers who charge a lot more and even as much as $4000 per 1000 words.

Like most things, your level of earnings will depend on your experience.

If you have particular expertise in a topic then expect to earn above average. For example, a qualified nutritionist or doctor can earn much more than an equivalent unqualified writer.

The average salary according to Salary.com is around $44,719 – $62,086 per annum

Restore and Sell Used Furniture

Restoring furniture is quite a fun way to make a good side or even full-time income.

The best way to do this is to look out for old pieces of furniture on places like Facebook Market Place, forums, Ebay, and at garage sales.

You can often get extremely cheap used furniture at all of these places and they often only require a lick of paint or some minor DIY work to skyrocket their value.

A close friend of mine has recently been doing this and making a nice little profit.

Here are some examples of the money he has made:

• Chest of drawers purchased on Facebook Market Place for $20. Repainted and glossed at a cost of $10 and sold for $60. Profit = $30
• TV cabinet purchased on Ebay for $10. Sanded and repainted at a cost of $10 and sold for $65. Profit = $45
• Wardobe purchased on Facebook Market Place for $30. Sanded, repainted and treated at a cost of $15 and sold for $80. Profit = $35

The best thing about this side hustle is that each job only takes around 1-2 hours unless extensive work is required.

• Dieting schedules

• On Etsy. As you may be aware, you can sell all manner of things on Etsy and that includes printables. Beware though that Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee and 5% of the sale fee
• On dedicated online store. Instead of using a third party like Etsy, you can just simply set up your own shop and sell your products that way

One of the most lucrative online business ventures is creating and selling online courses.

People will pay a premium to learn new skills faster than they can teach themselves and that’s why this opportunity can pay so handsomely.

If you have a particular skill in something then you should probably create a course and market it.

• How to cook

In fact, the global e-learning market is expected to reach a value of $457.8 billion by 2026 so there’s clearly no sign of growth in this market slowing.

Focus groups are essentially where you provide your opinion for a fee.

You might be reviewing a new product or completing surveys in relation to market research or other studies.
