You can return plants to Walmart without proof of purchase but Walmart will need to check a government-issued ID.
If that all checks out then they will offer you the following:
- An exchange
- Cash if the value of the item is below $10
- A credit to use in-store if the value of the item is over $10
Remember that Walmart will usually be able to trace purchases through your online account or through the app if required so be sure to check your account before concluding that you don’t have proof of purchase.
Does it Take Long to Get a Refund from Walmart?
It usually takes up to 10 business days if you return plants using the mail-in returns process as Walmart needs time to receive the goods and to process the return.
It can take slightly longer than this during business periods and your mileage may vary depending on your card issuer.
How Does Walmart’s Plant Return Policy Compare to Other Stores?
We’ve taken a look at the market to see whether Walmart is a good place to buy plants from if you’re conscious about having to make a return.
Here’s what we found:
|Costco||Return any time|
|IKEA||Returns are not accepted on live plants in US. Fake plants between 180-365 days.|
|Lowes||365 days for shrubs, perennials or trees and 90 for others|
Walmart’s 365-day return policy for plants and flowers is one of the best around and much more generous than most of the competition.
Only Costco which allows plants to be returned at any point has a better return policy than the competition.
Generous returns, coupled with free return delivery, and a very decent selection of fake and real plants, makes Walmart one of the best places around to purchase your next piece of shrubbery.
However, you should remember that the policy is shortened to 90 days for fake plants.
