In short, you can return plants to Walmart for a full exchange or refund up to 365 days after purchase. This is reduced to 90 days for artificial or fake plants as we have set out below.

How to Return Plants to Walmart

The easiest and fastest way to return plants to Walmart is to simply take them back to the store.

This will ensure your return will be dealt with there and then without hassle.

However, if you ordered your plant online, you can also use the return mail process:

  1. Log in to your Walmart Account 
  2. Go to your purchase history
  3. Find your plant item from your order
  4. Choose the item to return
  5. Provide your reason for return
  6. Select whether you’d like to exchange them or receive a refund
  7. Select save
  8. Click continue
  9. Choose the method for return (i.e. mail or in-store)
  10. Print off the prepaid USPS/FedEx labels
  11. Click submit
  12. If making a return by mail drop off your plant at your local FedEx or USPS location

Can I Return Dead Plants to Walmart?

Yes, dead plants are still covered by Walmart’s one-year return policy.

There are no exclusions given that stipulate dead plants cannot be returned and that is our experience from speaking to people who have returned dead plants to Walmart.

Can I Return Plants to Walmart With No Receipt?

You can return plants to Walmart without proof of purchase but Walmart will need to check a government-issued ID.

If that all checks out then they will offer you the following:

  • An exchange
  • Cash if the value of the item is below $10
  • A credit to use in-store if the value of the item is over $10

Remember that Walmart will usually be able to trace purchases through your online account or through the app if required so be sure to check your account before concluding that you don’t have proof of purchase.

It usually takes up to 10 business days if you return plants using the mail-in returns process as Walmart needs time to receive the goods and to process the return.
