8 Ways To Make $2000 Per Month From Home

How to Make $2000 a Month from Home Fast

Want to make money? Want to make $2000 per month from home? Let’s see how.

Making $2000 a month from home isn’t actually that difficult. Yes, it’s not easy but it can definitely be done, and quite quickly too!

It will take you some time to get to start earning $2000 a month from home but believe me it can be done.

This blog is living, breathing proof of that as there have been several months where I have made well in excess of $2000! I hit those figures within 6 months of starting, working 10 hours a week part-time on it!

The thing that stops people from making money at home is simply a failure to act. Analysis paralysis!

The best thing you can do to start on your journey to making $2000 a month, is to get going now. Don’t dilly dally. Don’t overthink. Just start!

Start now, perfect later is something I learned to live by and it definitely works!

Why does it work? I think because as soon as you start putting pen to paper you feel like progress is being made. It spurs you on.

Making money online is super cheap. In some cases, all you need is an internet connection and a computer so there are no excuses other than those you tell yourself!

Let’s have a look how.

Start a Finance Blog

This is what I did, so I know it works a charm!

Finance is a tried and tested niche!

It’s not surprising that is the case as we all have to deal with finances in our lives! There’s no way around it unless you live off the grid, in a cave!

That means there are plenty of people out there who want to learn how to improve their finances. Whether that’s making money, saving, or budgeting!

Yes, blogging takes a bit of time but the rewards are huge.

Check out someone like Michelle Schroeder Gardner who runs the blog “Making Sense of Cents”. She makes $100k+ a month from her blog!

Whilst she is very much the exception, there are still many others making $3000$5000 a month and beyond.

Yup – time to pick your jaw up off the deck!

Here’s how I/you can make money from blogging:-

  • Affiliate marketing. I promote other people’s/companies’ products for a small commission. My best earnings in one day with this was $150
  • I advertise with display ads through the advertising agency Mediavine. My best earnings in one day with this agency were $125
  • Selling products such as courses or e-books. This is not something I do yet but this is one of the most profitable ways to make money blogging
  • Sponsored posts. This is when a company pays you to write about their articles.

How to Set Up Your Blog

To set up a blog you’ll want a platform to blog on. For that, I recommend WordPress.org (not WordPress.com – that is different).

WordPress is the best because it’s super customizable, Google-friendly, and pretty much the industry standard.

Avoid Wix, which is slow, clunky, and not very Google-friendly.

You’ll also need some hosting for your blog. Hosting is essentially where the files for your blog live.

I would suggest BlueHost hosting for your first year if you want something cheap and cheerful (around $3.95 per month if you pay for the year through my link).

If you want something that’s faster but more expensive, then SiteGround hosting is a good choice!

How to Get Traffic

Blogging is all about traffic. Without eyes on your blog, you’re never going to make a dime!

Generally, the more traffic you get, the more money you’ll make, especially with ads, although not always the case with affiliate marketing.

I get the vast majority of my traffic from Pinterest and I would suggest focusing on that over anything else at first.

Pinterest is great because anyone can start getting traffic almost immediately. It does take a few months to get good traffic (ie 10,000 visitors a month plus) but once you’re up and going you can get anything up to 500k visitors a month from the platform.

You should also learn search engine optimization, which means learning how to get your blog to show up in Google and other search engines.

This takes longer than Pinterest but is worth it as the traffic from search engines is usually better at converting as those people are usually actively searching for a product or solution and usually have their wallets out.

Rent Out Your Stuff

Most have us have got stuff that we aren’t always using!

Whether that’s your car, tools, your spare room, camping gear, or even handbags.

The great thing is you can actually make a tidy profit each month renting out some of your stuff to those in need.

Let’s look at a few websites to help you do this:-

  • Turo and GetAround  – Rent out your car, van or truck;
  • Spinlister – Rent out your push bike, snowboard, surfboard and skis
  • StyleLend – Rent out your clothes, handbags, shoes and accessories
  • FriendWithA – Rent out pretty much anything like sports equipment, cameras, clothes, tools etc…
  • AirBnB – Rent out your home or room

Proofreader

Proofreaders analyze documents and look for written errors such as spelling, grammar, and syntax errors.

Proofreading is an excellent work-at-home opportunity as you don’t necessarily need to have any qualifications to succeed at it.

Proofreaders are employed in all sorts of industries such as:-

  • In the legal industry where you might be expected to check court transcripts, contracts or pleadings;
  • In the medical/science industry where you might be checking letters of medical practitioners, scientific research papers and articles;
  • In the web design industry where you might be checking web pages and web articles;
  • In the blogging industry where you might be proofreading a company’s or individual’s blog posts before publishing;
  • In the writing industry where you could be checking novels, magazines or newspapers.

You can earn up to around $65k a year proofreading and that’s why it’s on my list of ways to make $2000 a month or more.

Proofreading expert Caitlin Pyle made over $40k in her first year proofreading. You can check out her course here which teaches everything you need to know about proofreading.

I have written a full in-depth article on becoming a proofreader that you can read.

Set Up an Ebay Business

Think the eBay business ship has already sailed?

Think again.

There are still plenty of people making money from eBay and it’s still a massive marketplace to sell stuff on.

It’s still the second-biggest marketplace in the world after Amazon.

You can sell pretty much anything on eBay but my preference when setting up an eBay shop is to try and niche down. Try and look for products with less competition and carve out your own thing.

If you’re interested in setting up a niche online store, check out my guide here which is for setting up a Shopify store but the same principles apply to setting up any e-commerce website.

Join Focus Groups

Focus groups are where companies pay for you for your opinion.

It’s usually market research for new products that are about to be launched onto the market.

However, some focus groups are about other things like politics, consumer surveys, or health.

You can expect to earn anything up to $300 for each participant so you’ll need to do a handful to get to the $2000 goal but there’s nothing stopping you from using focus groups as just one of a few different side hustles.

Every win counts!

Here are a few companies that offer focus group opportunities:-

Teach Kids English

You can now teach English remotely and earn some decent money doing so.

This usually involves teaching kids in foreign countries over Skype.

You’ll usually need a college degree of some sort to do this and it helps to have some teaching experience or qualifications.

If you have these skills then websites like the following are a great place to look for work:-

Expect to earn up to $2000 a month if you can get enough gigs doing this.

The best thing about this is that, if you have the skills/qualifications, all you need to get set up is a computer, an internet connection, and a webcam.

Matched Betting

Matched betting is a brilliant side hustle and I have myself made over $4000 by doing it in my spare.

People see betting and think “OMG gambling – no way am I doing that”!

However, matched betting isn’t gambling as you cannot lose as you can in normal gambling!

Essentially it works by using the free promo bets that bookies give people when they sign up.

So, let’s say you get a $50 free bet for signing up to a bookie. You sign up and then put the $50 on a horse to win a race. At the same time, you also put what’s called “back bet” on that same horse to lose. A back bet is a bet for something to lose.

If the horse wins, you win. If the horse loses you also win because you’ve also backed it to lose at the same. Because you’re using the free bet you are in profit!

It effectively turns the free bets into cash that you can then withdraw and use.

I have done a detailed matched betting guide explaining this.

I used to think this was a UK-only side hustle as I learned to do it using an English company called Profit Accumulator.

However, I can see it’s also being done in the USA and you can check out The Sure Bettor to see how it’s done there.

How I made $3500 on Facebook with affiliate marketing

In around 2015, I started affiliate marketing on the only platform I had available to me at the time – Facebook. I didn’t have a blog back then.

Even so, I still managed to make around $3500 just by using Facebook!

Better still, I only posted on my Facebook wall around 20 times to do this. That’s the power of affiliate marketing!

I have written a full post about exactly how I did it.

Baby Sitter

The average salary for a babysitter is around $16-20 per hour depending on how many children you’re looking after.

It used to be that babysitting was just something you’d do for friends and family but apps like Care.com and SitterCity now put you in touch with people wanting their children cared for in the local area.

As such, babysitting is now a much more viable and lucrative venture than anyone can do, providing you don’t mind children.

You’ll have to be subject to a background check but providing you’re clean then there is no reason why you can’t look at this as a possible option to get that $2k this month.
